Every wellness movement has an origin story — SPICEZ is rooted in faith, culture, family, and the pursuit of balance.
Growing up in a Caribbean American home shaped by Baptist and Pentecostal values, discipline and purpose were the foundations of daily life. Her parents neither cursed nor drank, and they held unwavering standards for behavior, education, and faith. Hymns filled the house. Church values shaped character. And her name itself was a declaration of spiritual identity.
Yet, the true anchor of her journey was the Serenity Prayer, quietly hanging in her grandparents’ home:
“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.”
As a child, she didn’t fully understand it. As an adult, it became the blueprint of her life — and later, the foundation of SPICEZ.
Her work across healthcare, military service, public health leadership, and education taught her that personal transformation requires acceptance, courage, and wisdom. That wholeness is not about perfection, but harmony.
Today, as a holistic health practitioner, professor, author, and wellness guide, she continues to live the balance she teaches — spending her days with her husband, children, grandchildren, friends, and the SPICEZ community she has built.
Her story is a reminder that wellness begins at the intersection of spirituality and self-care, and that every person has the power to rewrite their life with intention.
