The Journey to SPICEZ — How One Woman Turned Life Experience Into a Wellness Movement

From the outside, holistic health often looks like a trend. But for some, it is a calling written into their life story long before they ever chose it. This is true for the creator of SPICEZ — Change Is in Your Hands, a wellness framework built on six core dimensions: Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, Career, Emotional, and Zen.

Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts to a preacher father and a first-generation Bajan Bahamian mother, her life began in a home shaped by discipline, faith, music, and culture. Her childhood was equal parts conservative Christian values and immigrant resilience — tea and toast mornings, hymns drifting through the house, and lessons in excellence woven into every day.

Education and discipline were constants. From private school to a talented and gifted high school, to Hampton University, she learned early that success was not optional — it was expected. But real transformation began when she chose to join the military. What started as a practical path soon became a launchpad into a life of service. As an Army Nurse Veteran, she discovered what it meant to heal — not just the body, but the unseen wounds people carry.

Her nursing career, military service, academic training, and later work in pediatrics and public health all pointed toward one truth: people do not simply “get sick” — their lives fall out of balance first. That insight became the foundation of SPICEZ.

Today, she offers workshops, retreats, programs, and her book to guide people into a life of balance and intentional wellness. Her journey is proof that healing is more than medicine — it’s the harmony of every dimension of who we are.
